ESN Press <p>European Solar Network Press is dedicated to provide peer-reviewed academic publications in the field of solar energy, focusing on scientific research results, technologival developments, as well as on the policies.</p> en-US ESN Press <p><strong>European Solar Network Press Publishing Agreement</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">These terms and conditions apply to the Author who submits a manuscript for publication by the European Solar Network Press (ESNP), including the European Solar Energy Review Journal, constituting part of the European Solar Network VZW (ESN), a non-profit association registered under the number 0740728919 in Belgium, European Union. The Publishing Agreement terms and conditions are electronically accepted by the submitting Author at the moment of the submission and are legally binding the submitting Author towards ESN without a necessity for a written signature.</span></p> <p><strong>Copyright Assignment</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">By submitting the manuscript to the ESNP the Author assigns to the ESN the copyright to the submitted manuscript and any tables, illustrations or other materials submitted along for the publication as a part of the manuscript (the Submission). This assignment of rights means that the Author has granted to ESN the exclusive right to publish and reproduce the Submission, or any part of the Submission, in print, electronic and all other media (whether now known or developed in future), in any form, in all languages, internationally and for the full term of copyright, and the right to license others to do the same, effective when the Submission is accepted for publication. This includes the right to enforce the rights granted hereunder against third parties. </span></p> <p><strong>Supplemental Materials</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Supplemental Materials mean all materials submitted by the Author and published as a supplemental part of the Submission, including but not limited to graphical, illustrative, video and audio forms. With respect to any Supplemental Materials that the Author submits, ESN shall have a perpetual worldwide non-exclusive right and license to publish, extract, reformat, adapt, build upon, index, redistribute, link to and otherwise use all or any part of the Supplemental Materials in all forms and media (whether now known or developed in future), and to permit others to do so.</span></p> <p><strong>Research Data</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Research Data shall mean the result of observations or experimentation that validate research findings and that are published separate to the Submission, which can include but are not limited to relevant raw data, processed data, software, algorithms, protocols, and methods. With respect to any Research Data that the Author wishes to make accessible on a site or through a service of ESN, ESN shall have a perpetual worldwide, non-exclusive right and license to publish, extract, reformat, index, adapt, build upon, redistribute, link to and otherwise use all or any part of the Research Data in all forms and media (whether now known or developed in future), and to permit others to do so.</span></p> <p><strong>Reversion of Rights </strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Submissions may sometimes be accepted for publication but later rejected in the publication process, even in some cases after public posting, in which case all rights will revert to the Author.</span></p> <p><strong>Revisions and Addenda </strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Author agrees and acknowledges that no revisions, additional terms or addenda to this Publishing Agreement can be accepted without the ESN express written consent. The Author understands that this Publishing Agreement supersedes any previous agreements the Author have entered into with the ESN in relation to the Submission from the date of its publication.</span></p> <p><strong>Author Rights</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Author retains the Author Rights and understands that no rights in patents, trademarks or other intellectual property rights are transferred to the ESN. The Author Rights include the right to use the Submission publication for personal and internal institutional needs, if these are non-commercial and relate to scholarly purposes. The Author Rights exclude any commercial use, other than use of Submission by the Author in a subsequent compilation of the Author’s works or reuse by the Author of portions or excerpts in other works (with a full acknowledgment of the original publication of the Submission). </span></p> <p><strong>Legal Jurisdiction</strong></p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This Publishing Agreement will be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Belgium, without regard to conflict of law principles, and the parties irrevocably consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Belgium. </span></p> UPCOMING: Europe - Energy - Climate <p>This upcoming release edited by Agnieszka E. Rządkowska is planned for publication in December 2020.</p> <p>Below you can find the publication preview from 5th November 2020.</p> <p>“Europe - Energy - Climate, the quest for the clean energy transition in the EU” is a book aiming to provide an up to date comprehensive study from many different angles on the prospects of the clean energy transition pursued by the EU. The book focuses on the most recent European energy policies in the context of the global challenge of climate change extending this discourse within the five topical sections that feature relevant chapters from academics and practitioners in the EU energy sector including policy-makers, members of many relevant NGOs, experts and scientists in renewable and traditional energy, as well as in climate and environment. The study aims to investigate the current European energy situation and discuss the real prospects and the steps in a transition to clean energy in the EU from the political, economic and technological perspectives with analytical data presented and discussed along with the possible directions investigated. The book first provides an outlook of the current energy situation in Europe followed by a description of the current European energy policy and the discussion of the most important aspects of the new EU Green Deal. A dedicated chapter is considering the COVID-19 pandemic context and how it affects and will affect in the future the clean energy transition in the EU. Further on, the book contextualizes the discussed situation and policy with background of the undeniable changes in the climate observed throughout the recent years. Then it covers an outlook study of the current technological developments in the renewable energy with a focus on the most promising directions. This discussion leads to the last section which provides a summarizing discourse on the process of the clean energy transition, its prospects, advantages, drawbacks and possible risks, including aspects such as international relations in the global geopolitical context as well as key policy issues such as energy security. The five sections of the book feature chapters from the perspective of academy and practice in related fields of policy, analysis and strategic planning, as well as technology, authored by many European and international experts, thus providing a unique blend of contributors among advanced scientists, policy-makers, industry specialists and practitioners who lead the current discourse in this field. The book is highly interdisciplinary yet the problem it tackles, the quest for clean energy is such as well. It presents different perspectives and enables the reader to develop his own opinion on the basis of being acquainted with different takes on the problem. The co-authors of the book have been invited based on their current roles and expertise by the editor and a co-author of the book Agnieszka E. Rządkowska, chair of the European Solar Network (ESN), member of the board of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), member of the editorial board of the newly established Solar Energy Advances Journal of Elsevier and an editor in-chief of the European Solar Energy Review Journal of ESN, academically affiliated with her Alma Matter, University of Wrocław in Poland.</p> Agnieszka Rządkowska Copyright (c) 2020 ESNP 2020-11-05 2020-11-05 Quantum Nano Plasmonics <p>Quantum Nano Plasmonics is a monograph marketed by ESNP on behalf of Cambridge University Press.</p> <p>The monograph focuses on plasmonics in nano-structures that have been succesfully employed to enhancing PV effect.</p> <p>With examples and clear explanation throughout, this step-by-step approach makes quantum theory of plasmons accessible to readers without specialized training in theory. Jacak uses original research results to offer a fully analytical theory formulation suitable for further development and applications. The theory is focused on the Random Phase Approximation description of plasmons in metallic nano-structures, previously defined for bulk metal. Particular attention is paid to large damping of plasmons in nanostructures including electron scattering and Lorentz friction losses, quantum description of plasmon photovoltaic effect is presented and there is in-depth analysis of plasmon-polariton kinetics in metallic nano-chains.
